Whether it's a luxury hotel, a sprawling resort or a

Nobody knows more about looking after people well than the staff at
WA's best hotels, resorts and retreats. Not only can they help create
impressive functions, they offer a warm bed for the night as well.
There's a lot to be said about booking a function in a place where guests can
really get away from it all. As organisers of the most high-profile conferences
around the world know, there is nothing like the lure of a few days away -- pref-
erably in a beautiful destination -- to tempt guests into attending your event.
Whether it's a wedding, special birthday, conference or seminar, you should
consider the range of fabulous hotels, resorts and retreats scattered across this
state, from the spectacular Coral Coast in the north to historic Albany in the
south. Or you can get away from it all by enjoying inner-city Perth.
For big five-star events, our city hotels are truly the masters of scale, han-
dling large numbers and managing huge logistics on a daily basis. It is little
wonder that they are the venue for the majority of our premium events such as
balls, cocktail parties and dinners for hundreds.
Holding your business function at a resort or retreat means that there will be
plenty for your delegates' partners to enjoy while they are in meetings. You will
need to book the venue several months ahead and naturally, make sure guests
are given plenty of advance notice of the event.
Remember, don't just take someone's word about a particular venue or
destination. Every function is unique and what might have been perfect for one
occasion might not work for another. The solution? Take the time to check out
any prospective establishment for yourself, and yes, that includes staying for a
night and eating and drinking at the venue in question.
And they say organising an event is a thankless task!
The newly refurbished Citigate Perth is the ideal central venue for any function.
Located in the West End of Perth's CBD, the four-star hotel is within walking
distance of the city's main transport hub and only 25 minutes from the international
airport. The multi-million dollar refurbishment of this Mirvac property includes
six, new-look function rooms which have been transformed into spacious and
contemporary light-filled venues ideally suited to all types of events, from lavish
themed dinner parties to boardroom meetings.
Core Luxury Retreat
Located in the lush Perth Hills, Core Luxury Retreat provides an intimate, peaceful
atmosphere, which is hard to come across in today's fast-paced world. Originally
built as a private retreat for its owners, Core Luxury Retreat offers a range of
facilities including a pool, gym, holistic treatments, event planning services,
audiovisual equipment and, of course, luxury accommodation. The retreat can
accommodate conferences for up to 20 people and weddings for up to 70 people.
Duxton Hotel Perth
In the mid 1990s, the building that was once the Commonwealth Taxation Office
was unveiled as the new and effortlessly stylish Duxton Hotel. More than 10 years
later, this hotel -- located in the heart of the CBD -- continues to breathe luxury and
refinement. Attention-to-detail is the establishment's trademark and nowhere is this
more evident than when it comes to functions. With nine different conference and
meeting areas available, event hosts are spoilt for choice.
Esplanade Hotel Fremantle
It's a Fremantle landmark and one that combines the best the port city has to offer
-- history, heritage, culture and art. Overlooking the popular Fishing Boat Harbour,
the Esplanade Hotel Fremantle is within walking distance of galleries, cinemas,
museums and, of course, the famous Cappuccino Strip. The recently refurbished
international buffet in the hotel's Atrium Garden Restaurant is a major drawcard
with locals and visitors alike, while its many function areas make the Esplanade
Hotel Fremantle the third-largest conference centre in WA.
Esplanade River Suites
Many Perth residents have fond memories of the Pagoda Ballroom, which, for
many years, saw more than its fair share of couples tripping the light fantastic well
into the evening. In 2008, the Esplanade Hotels Group purchased the heritage-
listed site, situated on the shores of Perth's Swan River, and renamed it Esplanade
River Suites. Today, this 4½ star hotel features 101 self-contained guest rooms and
apartments, outstanding recreational facilities and beautifully appointed function
For many years, it was a luxurious private residence; now, Maitraya is available for
everyone to savour. Perched on a hill amid 200ha of barely-touched Great Southern
land and overlooking the Southern Ocean, this sprawling private retreat is one
of Australia's finest. A leisurely 4½-hour drive south from Perth, or a quick plane
or helicopter flight (there is both an airstrip and a helicopter-landing pad on the
grounds), Maitraya offers spectacular beauty, complete seclusion and a serenity
that stays with you long after you leave.
