We might all love this sunburnt land of ours, but
there's something about being by the water that
just sings to our spirits. Celebrate the pleasures of
coastal living in WA by hosting your next function
in a dining room with a view.
ON THE WATER
You only have to look at the way our city has developed, sprawling up the
coast or in clusters around our rivers' bays and coves, to know that our long
white beaches and sparkling rivers are some of our biggest drawcards.
When the sun is shining and the water sparkling, there is no better place to be
than by the water -- and for a really beautiful function, there is no better setting.
In Perth and the South West, top-quality restaurants have sprung up along
the banks of the Swan River, along beautiful Geographe Bay and overlooking
the expansive Indian Ocean, offering a distinct WA flavour to any occasion.
While a lunch function is magnificent in such a setting, you could have a
champagne breakfast as the first rays of sun start to light up the sand, or sunset
cocktails as the day comes to an end (on that point, it is a good idea to check ex-
actly when the sun will rise and set). And don't think you have to wait until sum-
mer to host an event in a maritime environment -- there is nothing more dramatic
than watching a storm roll in over the ocean or river while you are warm and dry.
Waterside restaurants also give you the chance to combine your function
with a little seafaring, such as a river cruise -- some restaurants have boat pens
or moorings for the use of patrons -- or perhaps a swim. For business events,
not only does this make it possible to get families involved if you've had to
schedule something for a weekend, but it will also help eliminate some of
those "corporate calories".
Most waterside restaurants offer you a great deal of flexibility to cater for your
function's requirements and have experts to advise on your catering and drinks.
