Originally the site of William Dalgety
Moore s 19th Century general merchant
business, the Moores Building has a
long and fascinating history.
The building gained its current facade in
1899 at the height of the Western gold rush and
restoration work was completed in 1993.
Constructed from local materials including
limestone, sandstone and sawn shingles, the
building holds an important place in WA history.
Indeed, it is one of the oldest and most significant
surviving buildings in the metropolitan area.
Currently operating from the premises is the
Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery and
in early 2008, Moore & Moore began operation
as a cafe and function space.
Eclectic and stylish, the environment lends
itself to all kinds of events from corporate
sundowners, conferences and cocktail functions,
to sit-down dinners and weddings.
Thick limestone walls insulate the entire indoor
space perfectly, keeping function guests cool
during the summer months and warm in the cold
depths of winter.
There is also an upstairs area with original
wooden floorboards and warm, rich colours,
which are lit up beautifully in the evening.
The courtyard area has a rustic appeal, with
limestone and exposed brick walls and large
wooden tables. It is perfect for intimate parties
and other events requiring an inviting ambience.
Behind the Moore & Moore name is a group of
well-groomed, experienced hospitality souls. They
will ensure your Moore & Moore experience is
memorable for all the right reasons.
Event hosts can choose from canape and sit-
down menus, and the team is happy to suggest
local beverage suppliers.
Quintessentially Fremantle in flavour, this
beautiful, warm and inviting space is a fantastic
venue for all functions, whether it s an intimate
get-together or something a little more formal.
